Unplugged

by

Isaiah Prasad

Glued to our screens

Worlds lived in comparison

Anxiety and dread

Inadequacy

Unplugged from reality

The endless maw

The dreaded more and more

Never enough

Insatiable

Unstable

An endless echo

Screaming

Love me

Help me

Hate them

Fuck them

Everyone trying

To gain autonomy

Thinking it’s through money

Sometimes it is

Often it’s not

A mirage of wants

Of trauma we’ve inherited

Ancestral coding

In outdated bodies

With no firmware updates

AI is the future

But we can’t Ctrl+Z the past

The syntax is etched

In the stone of time

Therein lies the answer

Our crack in the rock

The Present

Our constant reminder

Constantly forgotten

But never really forgot

It’s in the blades of grass

In the quiet

Between the leaves

It’s our true nature

Plugged into reality
